Account & Data Deletion
How to delete your SyncXP data and revoke access.
SyncXP is privacy-first by design. Most of your data stays on your device or in your own cloud storage — we hold very little server-side. This page explains exactly what we can delete and how.
SyncXP Snap (Mobile App)
The mobile app captures receipt photos and uploads them directly to your Dropbox or Google Drive. SyncXP servers never see or store these photos.
What's stored:
- On your device only: OAuth tokens for Dropbox/Google Drive, plus a unique device identifier for crash reports.
- On SyncXP servers: Nothing. Photos go directly to your cloud account.
How to delete:
- Uninstall the app — this removes all OAuth tokens and device data.
- Revoke cloud access:
- Dropbox: dropbox.com/account/connected_apps → remove "SyncXP"
- Google Drive: myaccount.google.com/permissions → remove "SyncXP"
- Delete uploaded photos from your Dropbox or Google Drive folder directly.
SyncXP Desktop (macOS)
The desktop app stores all expense data locally on your Mac. Server-side, we hold only your licence key, email, scan token balance, and invoices.
What's stored on our servers:
- Licence key, email address, and remaining scan credits
- Aggregate scan counts (no receipt content)
- Invoice records (retained for tax/legal compliance — typically 7 years)
How to delete:
- Delete local data: Uninstall the app and remove
~/Library/Application Support/SyncXP/ - Request server-side deletion: Email support@syncxp.co.uk with the subject "Account Deletion Request" and include your licence key or registered email address.
What We Cannot Delete
For legal and tax compliance, we are required to retain:
- Invoice records — retained for 7 years per UK tax law (HMRC)
- Anonymised usage statistics — aggregate counts not linked to any individual
Response Time
Deletion requests are processed within 7 business days. You will receive a confirmation email once your data has been deleted from our servers.
